This is A LOT of allspice. Since it’s whole, you’ll need a grinder unless you plan to use them as is. It smells great, just like good allspice.
This container is a good-sized package of whole allspice berries. They seem a bit moist and not overly dried, which should yield a nice fresh spice when ground. You’ll need a grinder to prepare them, but fresh ground allspice is so much better than the pre-ground kind that loses zest over time. The package had an inner seal to ensure it remains fresh and secure. Overall—I’m really impressed.
This is a nice spacious container. The berries are whole, which is how I prefer to get allspice, so I have the choice to use them whole or grind them at home. The package was well-sealed, and the berries were nicely dried. They have a lovely aroma and worked perfectly in a simmer pot. I also used them ground for spice cookies alongside other spices like ginger, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg.
I’m eager to use these whole allspice berries in various recipes. The bottle is enormous! I like to use them as pickling spice for pickles, corned beef, or ground with a mortar and pestle for homemade jerk seasoning. The possibilities are endless with this spice. I might need to find someone to share it with, as it may spoil before I can use it all! An impressive product for the cost.
This allspice is just what I was hoping for. It’s fantastic in coffee (just toss a few berries in with your favorite blend before brewing) and warms up desserts like pies. I find I go through a lot of this. There’s a fair amount in the container for the price, making it a better deal than what I find at the grocery store.
Excellent quality fresh whole allspice. Everything is as expected—no issues.
I enjoy using allspice in my cooking, and it’s always better when freshly ground. I was running low, so I picked this up. It’s a generous size, so it might be more than you need if you don’t use it often. You’ll likely want a grinder too.
I’ve recently been trying overnight oats and experimenting with spices to add to them. When I tried allspice, I knew I was onto something special, so I got this for fresh ground allspice. It was well-packaged, with no loose berries or cracks. Keep in mind these are whole, so you’ll have to grind them yourself. I used a battery-powered grinder, and it worked flawlessly. There’s not much more to say except they tasted great and were fresh and flavorful. In short, if you need whole allspice or want to grind your own, this is a solid choice.
I’m thrilled with the size of this generous jar! It’s definitely easy on the wallet, and gluten-free . The container even has a bit of a decorative touch, so it looks nice on the countertop or stove. The flavor is exceptional. I use my electric grinder to get a bolder, fresher taste, similar to what you get from freshly ground pepper versus regular table pepper. I’m already enjoying trying new dishes with this allspice and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it ??????????.
I couldn’t find allspice berries nearby and needed them for a few recipes, so I was thrilled to find them here. The container was sealed, and upon opening, the aroma was delightful, with a great flavor. I prefer grinding the berries for a fresh taste, and these didn’t disappoint. Some berries did have a few small stems attached, but that’s typical from my experience. There’s a good quantity of berries in this container that should last a while.
My spice collection is filled with Double O spices. They have a reliable product that’s fresh and tasty. This allspice lives up to that reputation; it should last me quite a while, but I’m glad to have it. This came sealed, and the berries are whole, not ground.
This allspice container is huge; I doubt I’ll need to get another one for ages!
In my local grocery store, there are only a couple of brands of allspice available in small containers, already ground, and they charge a bit much per ounce. So my options are limited. Prices for allspice vary greatly, from .93/ounce to $2.76/ounce. Most are pre-ground, but I prefer whole berries that I grind myself for the fullest flavor. These berries are priced slightly above average, but they taste excellent. I recommend this brand for its ample supply and decent price.
I’ve been using allspice for years, but this is my first time trying it as whole berries. The flavor and scent difference between freshly ground allspice and the powdered kind I’ve used before is remarkably distinct. I may never go back to pre-ground allspice again. I have two grinders at home—one for coffee beans and one for spices. This grinds easily in my spice grinder. I haven’t yet used it as a whole berry in cooking, but I do have a Jamaican stewed chicken recipe that calls for whole or cracked allspice berries that I’m excited to try. I did include this in a batch of spice cookies, and the addition of freshly ground allspice made them amazing. The grandkids loved them, even though they can be picky. The adults enjoyed them too. I’ve also ground some to add to freshly brewed coffee for a delightful spiced cup. It tasted heavenly with this allspice twist. A well-priced container of whole allspice, perfect for grinding (or not) for all your cooking adventures. I can wholeheartedly recommend this product.
It arrives sealed in an airtight container. I’m not sure why they labeled it kosher or halal; it’s just a spice, perhaps to attract more diverse customers. It smells fresh but lacks a bit in taste. I’ve used it a couple of times, but it doesn’t compare to the quality of what I’m accustomed to. Still, it might suit someone who doesn’t frequently cook with spices. The container seals nicely, suggesting it has a decent shelf life. Given its size, it should last a while since this isn’t a particularly large container.
This allspice is top-notch! The flavor is robust and mixes well. We use a coffee grinder and transfer the powder into shaker jars. This bottle will last quite some time, making it a good deal if you cook frequently!
The whole allspice comes in a nice large container. I enjoy throwing a few dried berries into sauces while they simmer, as it definitely gives a pleasant kick. For desserts, I use a grinder to create a fine powder that delivers that fresh, autumnal flavor. These dried berries are high quality with a delightful taste and fragrance. Definitely recommend!
Fantastic to have on hand for spiced apple cider.
Great taste and a solid value for the quantity offered. Keeps well.
The berries have a slight moisture, indicating they’re pretty fresh, which I appreciated over older, overly dried ones. They carry a strong flavor that enhances any baked dish requiring allspice or a strong clove or nutmeg taste. I’d recommend this size for bakeries or professional kitchens since allspice goes a long way. This could easily last most people a lifetime and even beyond. Nevertheless, a decent value and quality—so I’d give it five stars.
